Special Interest In Work with Youth & Young Adults

Through her extensive work within the Fraser-Salish region, Lianne has provided counseling and support for children, youth, young adults and their families. This includes implementing peer leadership awareness  programs within public schools, and programs for youth struggling with substance use concerns.

Harm Reduction Training

Learn harm reduction strategies and how they can be helpful in supporting people who use substances and their loved ones. When hearing the term “harm reduction” people often think of safe injection sites, supervised consumption and sterile supply distribution. But more than a list of interventions, harm reduction works to minimize the harms associated with substances, accepting that the use of regulated and unregulated substances will continue, just as it has for hundreds of years.  Harm reduction practices and principles allows people the room to make their own decisions around their substance use that works best for them. Whether their goal is safer use, better managed use, or achieving abstinence, harm reduction provides people the choice and control they need to make decisions right for them.

Overdose Prevention & Response Training

Lianne offers her knowledge and instruction on overdose prevention and response, catered to what information is most helpful to you. Her range of topics include understanding the contaminated drug supply, exploring ways to enhance safety in navigating the unregulated drug supply, responding to toxic drug poisonings and the administration of naloxone.

Trauma Informed Care Training

Learning the principles of trauma informed care will help you provide compassionate care for people with a history of trauma. Lianne can also offer her in-depth understanding of how trauma may influence substance use.

Goal Alignment Training

Informed by the philosophy of harm reduction and the core tenets of person-centered therapy, Lianne teaches service providers to better reflect on their understanding of what clients want and how they want to get there. Often times, there is a misalignment between the service provider and client about what the client's goals are and what the best methods are in which to reach those goals. Too often this misalignment ends up in early disengagement and poorer outcomes. Learn more about effective goal alignment practices and how it can improve your therapeutic outcomes.
